I have a friend who always seemed to help me clean up or take care of someone once they were puking, and something about it always bothered me. Which was weird because at least someone was helping me deal with cleaning up, but last night I finally realized why it bothers me so much; it’s a question of prevention versus minimizing consequences. From the beginning of a party, I’m making sure everyone has water, that people slow down their drinking, that they eat something, and sometimes that they throw out their drink. All things to prevent them from throwing up or blacking out. My friend doesn’t give a damn until it’s already too late, to hell with the actions, we’ll deal with the consequences when they come.
I just realized if someone messed up building a monument, it’d be a monumental error.
